I started writing this song as a healing from hearing the news of David Bowie's passing, then Alan Rickman, then Glenn Frey, and Paul Kantner... It just seemed the great entertainers that inspire me are leaving. As I post this, I just heard of a drummer friend of mine that passed last night.
lyrics
Cowboys, Spacemen, Doctors, and Indians
James Nelson
1-12-16
Another hero has gone away
Still in my ear though with so much more to say
Now as I’m getting older
And I’m looking this way
It’s Cowboys, Spacemen, Doctors and Indians
That guide my way
Hearing the news gave me nothing to say
Songs in my heart from the early days
Knee deep in nostalgia
And trying to break away
It’s Cowboys, Spacemen, Doctors and Indians
That guide my way
They guide my way
Tucked into contemporaries
And the little things they do
Somehow we must remember
Like a phoenix, up came you
A rebirth is always coming
If we all should carry on
Your love we shall remember
And your name forever Dawn
It’s Cowboys, Spacemen, Doctors and Indians
It’s Cowboys, Spacemen, Doctors and Indians
It’s Cowboys, Spacemen, Doctors and Indians
That guide my way
